Episode 41 Spiritual Sight
The scriptures speak in many places of a “spiritual sight.” What is
this spiritual seeing? What do we mean by the “eyes of the heart”?
How do we see spiritual things? Why would we not see spiritual
things? What is spiritual blindness? To be able to walk physically
with confidence we need to see clearly. It is the same in spiritual
things. There are critical issues that can either help or hinder
spiritual vision. Jesus said in one place to a church that they
were blind and should anoint their eyes with eye salve to be able
to see. Today we consider some of the elements of this spiritual
vision.
• Spiritual vision is a miracle of God’s grace (Eph. 1:17)
o To see who Jesus is (God)
o To see what He is doing (that God may be all in all)
o To see how to move with Him in all things (under his
authority)
• Elements of sight
o Eyes to see (a heart given to God and submitted to Him)
o Light (Jesus)
o Walking in the light (Obedience to Jesus)
• From John 9 (The man born blind)
o The man was born blind from birth
o A sovereign act of creation to see
o The physical situation reveals spiritual truth
• From Ephesians 1: 15-23
o These believers had a testimony of “faith and love”
o Paul was in prayer that they might “see” (revelation)
o They needed to know their calling, inheritance, and
power
o Seeing these things would allow them to function as the Body
of Christ
• From Revelation 3:14-22 (Laodicea)
o Thought that they saw but were blind
o Only Jesus can give the spiritual vision we need
o There is a price to pay
