Episode 25: The plan of God in creation concerning man and woman
One of the critical issues that we face today is the differing
roles of man and woman in the working of God. This has always been
an issue, but today we see the enemy bringing all of the force he
can to bring confusion to God’s order. Today we look briefly at
this all important subject. It was God who created man and
woman, and His creation was perfect. Sin has distorted His design
but God has not changed His mind today regarding His plan
concerning man and woman in all aspects of life. To allow God to
wash our minds of natural reasoning is difficult, but I believe if
we want to know the full blessing and approval of God we must
function as God has designed.
• Creation
o Man created first, then woman taken from man (I Tim.
2:13)
o Woman created as a suitable “helper” for man (Gen. 2:18)
o Woman was taken out of man and brought back in relationship
(I Cor. 11:8)
o God’s order in creation is stated in I Cor. 11:3
• The family is a visible expression of God’s order
o The husband is the leader, responsible for all things
o The wife is the helper, fitting together with her husband as
“one”
o The family is the structure in which children are brought to
maturity
• The Family of God
o God’s order is maintained in the family of God
o God’s children are brought to maturity in His family
o The natural family fits into God’s family (Ref. Eph.
5:22-33)
• The function of Man (husband)
o Overseer (in natural and spiritual family)
o Leadership (example, vision, direction)
o Ministry (laying down his life, serving, lifting up his wife
with him)
• The function of Woman (wife)
o To assist the man in his responsibility
o To allow herself to be led (not to exercise authority over
men, I Tim. 2:11-13)
o To minister (in her place with her grace)
• The challenge in our day
o To take our view from God and not natural reasoning or
culture
o To stand in truth and love
